Lane - William Darwin

Hillsboro, April 8 - William Darwin Lane, 72, well known retired farmer of Hillsboro dropped dead while doing some interior decorating at his home here about 11:30 o'clock Tuesday morning. His death was due to a heart attack. Although he had not been fit, Mr. Lane had not enjoyed the best of health during the past few winter months. Native of Canada, Mr. Lane was born near Smithville in Ontario July 22, 1874. He was the son of George C. and Mary Brewer Lane. Mr. Lane's marriage to Laura Jane Greenburg took place Dec 24, 1902. he widow survives together with a son, Howard Lane, farmer, living near Veedersburg and a daughter, Mrs. Vera Holmes of Toledo, Ohio. There is also one grandchild. A brother, John C. Lane of near Calstor Center, Canada and a sister, Mrs. Clara Wilcox who resides in Calstor Center also survives.
Another daughter, Miss Edna Lane well known school teacher in Fountain County for a number of years died July 16, 1946. Until his retirement a few years ago and removal to Hillsboro Mr. Lane had been a farmer in Fountain and Montgomery counties for a number of years. He was a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church. In his youth Mr. Lane attended the Johnson Bible College in Kimberton Heights, Tennessee.
