Sherman Lane, 82, died at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday at the Bowles Nursing Home in Crawfordsville. He had been a patient there for two weeks. He had been ill five years. He was born May 17, 1882, to Abraham and Prudence Moore Lane in Montgomery County, where he farmed and labored all his life. He was married to Fannie Belle Watts Oct. 22, 1904, in Crawfordsville. He was a member of the Center Christian Church north of Elmdale. He attended the Lud Thomas and Patton schools. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Forest Lane of Crawfordsville, Russell (Bill) Lane of here and Richard Lane of New Richmond; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Oppy and Mrs. Lois Kunkel, both of New Richmond; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons and one granddaughter. Services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at the Center Christian Church. Rev. John R. Servies will officiate. Friends may call at the Servies Funeral Home at Waynetown after 3 p.m. Thursday until 1 p.m. Friday. The body will lie in state at the church until the funeral. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. *

They were Margie and Arkie McAlister, Virginia Lane, Dale McCalmet, Irene Lane, Janice Kunkel, Dianne Bell and Joe Bell. The service for Mr. Lane was held at the Center Christian Church. * * * * *
Funeral services for Sherman Lane were held Friday afternoon at Center Christian Church. The minister was the Rev. John Servies and the organist Mrs. Gould Kennedy, who played "I Won't Have to Cross the Jordan Alone." She accompanied Mrs. Forest Swank and Mrs. Paul Fulwider, who sang "Sweet Bye and Bye" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Grandsons and grandsons-in-law were pallbearers - Tom Oppy, Roger Kunkel, Gene Lane, Kenneth Lane, Durrell Kelp and Forrest Wilson. Flowers were carried by grandchildren and great-grandchildren Janet Kunkel, Sonya Oppy, Fred and Fannie Belle Addler, Carolyn Wilson, Charles and Margie Waye, Barbara Sue Kelp, Tom and Sandy Connelly, Jim and Sheila Fenters, Dave and Sherri Carey, Susie Addler, Sharon McCallister, Mike Addler, Gregory, Danny, Bill and Bobby Lane. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery.
