New Market - Daniel J. Lane, 79 died Thursday at 2:15 a.m. at his home near here after a serious illness of eight weeks. He had been in failing health 2 1/2 years. A native of this vicinity, Mr. Lane was born on a farm near New Market Jan 14, 1873, the son of John and Mary Glavin Lane. On March 3, 1909, he was married to Nonal Smith, who survives. He was a farmer until his retirement about a year ago. Survivors in addition to the widow include a son, Gerald, New Market; a sister, Miss Elizabeth Lane, of near New Market and nieces and nephews. Mr. Lane was one of 15 children, the only survivor of whom is Miss Lane. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m at Noble Reeves Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Crawfordsville Masonic Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home. - transcribed by kbz
