“Lapland News” – Christopher Landis died at his home near here last Thursday at 3 o’clock of typhoid fever and flux. He leaves a wife, three grown daughters seven grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death. His oldest daughter is Mrs. John Clifton. The other two are single, two daughters having died some years ago. Mr. Landis was a kind and affectionate husband, a loving father and a kind and obliging neighbor. Mr. Landis was born in 1836 and died August 17, 1899, aged 63 years and five days. He was married to Mary F. Davis in 1863 who survives him. Christopher, though hast gone to the land of rest, God called you home – he thought it best. Home is where there’s one to love us, Where there’s one we love to meet us. – kbz

Christopher Landis died last Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock at his home, one mile northwest of Lapland, of inflammation of the bowels. Mr. Landis was born in Putnam County August 12, 1836, and was married to Mary F. Davis on April 13, 1863. This union was blessed with five children, all girls, three of whom, with their mother, survive. The deceased was well and favorably known and has many friends over the county who will be pained to learn of his death. The funeral was at the home last Saturday morning at 9 o’clock and the interment was in the old Indian Creek Cemetery. -s
