John E. LAMSON, a former resident of the community, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gladys Duncan in Crawfordsville on Sunday afternoon. While not in very good health, Mr. Lamson was able to attend the family reunion two weeks before his death and was not seriously ill until the preceding Wednesday. Funeral services at Freedom Baptist Church on Tuesday afternoon were in charge of BE Elliot of Crawfordsville. The casket was carried by George Cowan; Charles Campbell; Homer Robison; Thomas Durham; Charles Taylor and Wilder Rinehart all old friends and members of the Waveland Masonic Lodge. The flowers were carried by Mrs. Clarence Jeffires; Mrs. Thomas Lamson; Ruby Simpson and Forest Simpson. Burial in Freedom Cemetery. Mr. Lamson was the son of Thomas and Delilah Lamson and was born in Jasper County Oct 3, 1857. He lived most of his life about Waveland, moving a few years ago from his farm south of town to Crawfordsville. He married Miss Sarah Butcher, now dead, April 1884. After her death he made his home with his only daughter, Mrs. Gladys Duncan. There are also surviving four brothers; Charles; Rollo; Harry and Clifford, all living here. He was a member of the Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge. He was a cheerful disposition and was a good neighbor and citizen. - transcribed by kbz
