The Perry Times published at Perry, Oklahoma, had the following account of the death of William S. Lamb, whose funeral occurred Thursday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. McClure, 605 east Jefferson street. "William S. Lamb, of the firm of Dolezal & Lamb, died at his residence at 35 G. street at 8 o'clock, Sunday evening. Although his friends knew he was in failing health, his death was quite a shock to all. When last night as people were returning home from church the news was passed around that William Lamb was dead. Mr. Lamb was one of Perry's best citizens and universally well liked by all people and it was a pleasure to know him and enjoy his friendship and acquaintance. Mr. Lamb came to Oklahoma in the year of 1894, located in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and accepted a position in the U.S. court at that place, a position he held until he accepted a position under J.E. Pickard, at Perry, Oklahoma, and held that position until statehood. His next position was in the U.S. Court at Gunthrie, Oklahoma, a position he held until 1908, when he came back to Perry and organized the insurance and abstract business of Dolezal & Lamb and was engaged in that business at the time of his death. W.S. Lamb was a well educated man, being a graduate of the Wabash college of Crawfordsville, Indiana. After his graduation he took law as his profession but preferred the clerical work in preference of the practice. W.S. Lamb was prominent in politics, having held quite a number of positions of honor and trust under the Republican administration and in his party organizations. W.S. Lamb was born at Paxton, Illinois, November 1, 1859, was married to Miss Alma McCluer, November 1, 1894. To that union one child was born, Miss Helen Lamb, now in school at Crawfordsville, Indiana. He joined the Presbyterian church in 1880 and has been a devout member of that organization ever since. The funeral services were held from his late home on G street at 3:30 p.m. and was attended by a large number of his friends and acquaintances. Rev. L.V. Schermerhorn of the Presbyterian church conducted the funeral which was under the auspices of the A.F. & A.M. lodge of which deceased was an honored member and past Master. Later the body was borne to the Frisco depot to be shipped for burial at his old home at Crawfordsville.
