Lamb - Alma McCluer

Mrs. Alma McCluer Lamb, passed away at Culver hospital, on Sunday morning, September 2, after a prolonged illness. Mrs. Lamb was born on November 1, 1866, in Perry county, Illinois, the daughter of Cicero and Alice Sibbett McCluer, in 1870 the family moved to Crawfordsville. Mrs. Lamb was graduated from the Crawfordsville high school with the class of 1882, after which she continued her studies along the cultural lines for a number of years. On November 1, 1894, she was married to William S. Lamb, an alumnus of Wabash college, and resided with him in Oaklahoma until his death on October 1, 1914 after which she returned to Crawfordsvile and made her home until her death. Mrs. Lamb was active in the religious and social life of the community. She was a member of the First Methodist church, the Athenian and Current Event clubs and a charter member of the Music club. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. David E. Lilienthal of Norris, Tenn.: two grandchildren Nancy Alice and David E. Lilienthal, Jr.: two brothers, Herman C. McCluer of Bogota, Texas, and Gaylord S. McCluer, of this city, a nephew, Gaylord H. McCluer, now a lieutenant in the Navy, and a niece, Frances McCluer Griffin, children of the brother in Texas. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the First Methodist church, in charge is Dr. C. Howard Taylor. Interment will be at Oak Hill cemetery. The body was taken to the Utterback and Bright funeral home where it will be kept until 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon when it will be removed to the church to lie in state one hour preceding the rites.
