Andrew Ray Laird, 80, of 108 S. Pine St., a retired restaurant operator, died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday in Veterans Hospital at Danville, Ill. Mr. Laird operated a restaurant at McHenry, Ill. He was a World War I veteran and member of the American Legion and Hillsboro Christian Church. He attended Hillsboro schools. Born April 22, 1894, at Hillsboro, he was a son of Marion Ebert and Samantha Furr Laird. He was married to Edna Becker. She is deceased. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Naomi Crumley of Crawfordsville. A stepson is deceased. Services will be at 8 p.m. Friday in Powers Funeral Home here with the Rev. Robert Shotts officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Montrose Cemetery at Chicago. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday. -- jlr
