Veedersburg - Gordon E. LaBaw, 82 of Veedersburg died at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday Feb 9, 2011 at The Waters of Covington. Born May 24, 1928 in Danville, Ill, he was the son of the late Ralph E. and Gertrude Sutton LaBaw. He graduated from Veedersburg HS in 1946. He married Betty VJ Smith Sept 25, 1949 in Veedersburg. Mr. LaBaw was a carpenter worked for P&E Railroad and Mid-State Steel & Wire & Raybestos in Crawfordsville. He and his wife owned and operated Mustang Room restaurant in Veedersburg from 1972-1975. They moved to Florida in 1976 where he worked for Sealy until retiring in 1990 when they returned to Veedersburg. He was a member of Sterling Christian Church in Veedersburg and was a fan of most sports, especially IU basketball, Chicago Cubs, Colts, Miami Dolphins. He coached Little League Baseball for six years and enjoyed landscaping, camping, square dancing and playing euchre. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Karin Keller and Marcia Wells (husband, Terry) both of Veedersburg; a son Thomas LaBaw (wife, Iona) of Lafayette; a brother, Louis LaBaw of Leesburg, Fla and sister, Bart Florey of Lafayette. Services are Saturday in Veedersburg.
