“Lorenza Kussner, a former Terre Haute resident died Wednesday in London, England at the Hyde Park Hotel, where he had been staying several months with his wife and two daughters, Amalia Kussner Coudert and Miss Louise Kussner. Word of the death was received in Terre Haute by a telegram from a son, Albert Kussner of Chicago to his aunt, Mrs. Allen Pence, 528 South Center Street. Saturday morning a letter followed, stating that his father died of heart disease. In compliance with his own wishes Mr. Kussner’s body will be cremated Saturday and the ashes brought to Terre Haute for burial. Lorenza Kussner was a native of Germany, coming to this country when a young man and locating in Indiana. He came to Terre Haute from Greencastle, bringing with him his young wife, a sister of Mrs. Pence. He established a piano and music shop on Ohio street in a brick building just west of Memorial hall. Memorial Hall at that time housed a stante bank, but it was later sold to Mr. Kussner where he moved his family. It was there he lived and reared a family of three children, a son and two daughters. “His house soon became the center for music lovers of the city and the children early showed a desire to develop their talent for the fine arts. Amalia left Terre Haute with a desire to make her name known in the world of art and returned some years later a painter of minuates of the crowned heads of Europe. Albert Kussner followed more nearly his father’s talents and is a musician and a composer. “A recent letter from the Kussners form London told that their stay in England would be cut short the first of June to return again to the states. The Kussners have made their home in Chicago since 1893, when they moved from Terre Haute. Mr. Kussner visited in Terre Haute two years ago. Mrs. Pence accompanied him to NY and was in Europe with them for about a year. Besides Mrs. Pence, other Terre Haute relatives are Allen J. Weinhardt; Miss Lena Weinhardt and Mrs. Voorhees N.
