Waynetown-Miss Anna Elizabeth Marie Kruger, 79, veteran correspondent for The Journal-Review and other newspapers, died at Culver Hospital at 8:06 a.m. Monday. She fell at her home last Friday and suffered a hip fracture. In addition to being news reported Miss Kruger was widely known as an antique dealer and collector. She had been the Waynetown correspondent for The Journal-Review since 1930. The following year she also became correspondent for the Lafayette Journal and Courier and for the Danville, Ill., Commercial News. In 1954 she added the Indianapolis News to her list of newspapers, and for many years also assisted with the Waynetown Dispatch. Miss Kruger was born April 2, 1886, in Crawfordsville, the daughter of Frederick W. and Elizabeth Stagga Kruger. Her parents were natives of Germany. When she was five years old, she moved to Covington with her parents. The family lived there for four years when they moved to Waynetown. At the age of eight years, Miss Kruger became a member of the Covington Christian Church. She transferred her membership to the Waynetown Christian Church but in 1948 became a member of the Waynetown Methodist Church. After her graduation from common school at Waynetown, Miss Kruger entered the old Crawfordsville Business College, graduating there at the age of 16 years. She later was employed as a stenographer at Indianapolis for 20 years. In 1926 she returned to Waynetown after the death of her mother and had made her home with her brother, Walter, since that time. Miss Kruger was an active member of the Waynetown Flower Lovers Club. The brother, Walter, is the only immediate survivor. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown, with Rev. Ray Rhoda, pastor of the Waynetown Methodist Church, in charge. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday.

WAYNETOWN – Services for Anna Kruger, correspondent for a number of newspapers and also an antique dealer and collector, were held Wednesday at the Servies Funeral Home. The Services were conducted by Rev. Ray Rhoda of the Waynetown Methodist Church, where she was an active member. Music was by Lois Sennett, organist, playing as specials, “God Will Take Care of You” and “Near to the Heart of God.” Pallbearers were Robert Parker, Carl Davis, Ralph Rose, Harold Bratton, Ray Thompson and Dewey Sipps. They also assisted with the flowers. Burial was in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. – jlr
