Krout - Jane 1939

Miss Jane Krout died at her home, 218 W College Street at 9:30 o'clock last night. She had been in poor health for some time and death was attributed to a complication of diseases. Miss Krout was a sister of Mary Hannah Krout and Carrie Krout who were both well known in literary circles. She was never married. She was the daughter of Robert K. and Caroline Krout. Her brother, Robert Kennedy Krout expired last April 4. Surviving are one sister, Robert K. Krout of this city, a niece who resides in Terre Haute and two nephews both of Oregon state. Mary Hannah Krout was an outstanding newspaper woman of her day. At one time she was London correspondent for a Chicago daily paper. She was also known as a poet. Carrie Krout was an author. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the late residence, 218 W College street; with the Rev. Paul Million of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be made at Oak Hill Cemetery.
