Abija Krout, age 63, of 613 Freemont street, passed away at 4:45 a.m. today, July 9 1936, at the Fairview hospital after an illness of six months. Mr. Krout was born in Montgomery county, Indiana on June 26 1873. he had lived here for the past five years, coming to LaPorte from Veedersburg, Ind. He made his home with a daughter, Mrs. Jewell Hagle. In1890 Mr. Krout married Elga Huts. He was a member of the Methodist church at Covington, Ind. Surviving are two sons, Charles Krout of Logansport and James Krout of LaPorte; six daughters, Mrs. Laura Newnum of Plainwell, Mich., Mrs. Amy Miller of Francesville Ind., Mrs. Grace Jungles of Rensselaer, Ind., Mrs. Jewell Hagle, Mrs. Lona Cavander and Mrs. Marie Biege of LaPorte; one sister, Mrs. Mary Switzer of Krauge, Ind.; one brother John Krout of Brazil Ind. 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at 396 Melrose street. The body may be viewed at the same address. Burial will be in Patten cemetery with O. M. Haverstock in charge.
