Pfc. Gerald Krout was killed in action on March 24 in Germany, according to a War Department telegram to his wife here. Mrs. Krout had previously been informed that he was missing action on that day. His death marks the second one in the Krout family in less than two months. A brother, Pfc. Kenneth Krout was killed in Germany a few weeks ago. Another brother, Pvt Clarence Krout is in an army hospital in France for treatment of a hand wound. A fourth brother, Lyle was recently given a medical discharge from the army. A cousin, Theron Krout, was killed in action a few months ago. Pfc Gerald Krout was born Oct 1 1917, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Krout. The most of his life was spent in Veedersburg. He was married to Ruth Parkerson, who survives along with three children, Perry 6, Larry 4 and Bonnie Lou 2. Also surviving are the parents and several brothers and sisters. He had been overseas more than a year, landing in France on D-Day. He was serving in the Ninth Army. - thanks so very much to Betty D - love ya' sweetie :) kbz
