Charles S. Kritz, age 85, passed away suddenly at his home at 11:20 Tuesday night. His death which was attributed to a a heart attack, was a shock to his many friends who saw him on the streets downtown early in the evening. Mr. Kritz was born in Waveland July 5, 1857, the son of Henry and Mary Brush Kritz. He attended the Waveland Academy and Wabash College and began teaching in country schools. He also taught in Rockville; New Market and Waveland schools and was an instructor in a Crawfordsville school for nine years. In early manhood Mr. Kritz joined the Presbyterian Church where he had attended from a youth. he was also a member of the Crawfordsville Masonic Lodge No 50 and received his 50 years pin the past year. On April 5, 1893, he was united in marriage to Mary Mae MYERS at Crawfordsville. He became a partner with Tyre Hannah in a general store here in 1900 and after 20 years of business the store was sold to Deere & Denk. Surviving besides the widow, who has been ill for several months, are two brothers, Bert Kritz of Waveland and Frank Kritz of Los Angeles; four sisters, Mrs. RV Hunter of Cleveland; Mrs. WL Straughn of Crawfordsville; Mrs. George Cowan and Mrs. CA Kleiser; four nieces and one nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the home with Rev. Rieman of the Crawfordsville Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church in charge. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Crawfordsville.
