Kritz - Herbert Spencer

Herbert Spencer KRITZ, 80, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Norman MILES of Lafayette at 3 Friday after an illness of sevearl years. He was born on March 16, 1865 in Waveland, the son of Henry S. and Mary Bush (sic - should be BRUSH) Kritz, his father being a professor at Wabash Colege. He was married March 14, 1895 to MInnie CUPPY of Montezuma. Mr. Kritz was an active member of the Presbyterian Church and taught the Bert Kritz Class at one time, a member of the KP Lodge. He spent his entire life in or near Waveland having moved to Lafayette last September. He held the distinction of being the only surviving member of the first graduating class of Waveland HS. For 45 years he operated a men's furnishing store in Waveland until he retired from business. Surviving are the wife; a daughter, Mrs. Miles; 4 sisters, Mrs. RV HUNTER of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Goerge COWAN and Mrs. Albert KLEISER Of Waveland and Mrs. Nellie STRAUGHN, Crawfordsville. Funeral services were held at the Machledt Funeral Home at 3:00 Sunday afternoon byt he rev. David Canine and Rev. HD Trickey. Burial was made in Maple Ridge Cemetery. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Groninger, Mrs. Leon Duncan of Indianapolis; Dean Charlotte Burford of Terre Haute; Mr. and Mrs. HO Burk of BLoomington, ill; Mr. and mrs. Effie Tapp and son, Leonard of Ladoga; Doris Sammons, Loraine Hannah of lafayette; Mrs. WL Straughn and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. EG Vail; Mr. and Mrs. Gary Dillman; Mr. and Mrs. Ira Plank; James Gilliland and Mrs. Rose Long all of Crawfordsville.
