LINNSBURG – Mrs. Kittie Jane Knoll, 86, died at 6:15 a.m. Monday at Culver Hospital where she had been a patient for five days. Mrs. Knoll lived with her niece, Mrs. Ted Baynes, and husband at Linnsburg. She had been in failing health for a year. Born Dec. 15, 1874, in Edgar County, Ill., near Newman, Mrs. Knoll was the daughter of Phinis Meloy and Lucretia Githens Meloy. She was married to Frank Knoll Sept. 3, 1902, near Newman in her parents’ home. Her husband preceded her in death in February 1944. Mrs. Knoll attended school in Illinois and started housekeeping near Newman. Her husband was a farmer. The couple came to Montgomery County and settled near New Market 50 years ago. She was a member of the New Market Methodist Church. Survivors are five nieces, Mrs. Baynes, Mrs. Amy Rusk, Crawfordsville; Mrs. Herman Sayler, New Market; Mrs. John Davis, Logansport, and Mrs. F. S. Burroughs of Glendale, Calif. Mrs. Knoll was the last and the youngest of a family of 10 children. Funeral Home, Rev. Hilton Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bright Funeral Home, Rev. Histon Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Tuesday. – jlr
