W. D. (Dick) Kline, 77, of 702 W. Pike St., who retired in April 1958 after 48 years with the Ben Hur Life Association, died Wednesday morning in Culver Hospital after a long illness. He had been hospitalized since Dec. 2. A son of Rice and Florence Thompson Kline, he was born in Waynetown Sept. 7, 1886. He was married in Kokomo Sept. 12, 1925 to Alta Ward, who survives. Mr. Kline was a 1905 graduate of Crawfordsville High School and was graduated from Wabash College in 1909. He was a World War I veteran, serving in the Army. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Elks Lodge and American Legion here and Masonic Lodge of Waynetown. At the time of his retirement from Ben Hur, Mr. Kline was in charge of policy loans. Surviving beside the wife are two daughters, Mrs. L. D. Redden of Little Rock, Ark., and Mrs. Forest Cummings of Dallas, Tex.; a brother J. B. Kline of Waynetown; a sister, Mrs. Floyd Rosen of Crawfordsville, and four grandchildren. A brother and sister are deceased. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Friday at the Bright Funeral Home, where friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday. Rev. Howard F. Miller will officiate, and interment will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
