Charles Albert KLEISER died at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville on Friday morning at 12:45 o’clock. Death was attributed to leukemia following an illness of several years. He had been taken to the hospital Tuesday. Funeral services were at the home on Sunday afternoon with Rev. Frederick Cromer in charge. Burial was in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Mrs. Lowell Spencer, pianist, played softly and beautifully the hymns, Beautiful Isle of Somewhere; Jesus Lover of my Soul and Abide with me.

The pall bearers were messdames TM Garland, AC Deere; Claude Smith; Fred Rice; CD Barr; and CG Hallett. The flowers were carried by The Mesdames AC Deere; Hubert Loudermill; HC Machledt; CG Hallett; Carl Patterson, Taylor Groninger, Fred Rice and Miss Mary Kritz. Those from out of town attending were Dr. and Mrs. TZ Ball; Chase Harding Mrs. WA Millis; Dr. and Mrs. Lee Straughan of Crawfordsville; Mr. and Mrs. JW Robertson; Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Groninger; Mrs. Carl Patterson; and Dr. John Machledt of Indianapolis; Mrs. Harry Kleiser and Miss Louise of Terre Haute; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Machledt and John Machledt of Montezuma.

Charles Albert Kleiser, son of Joseph S. and Mary Watson Kleiser, was born near Waveland, June 1, 1857; died November 26, 1937. His parents, 3 brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Surviving him are the wife, step daughter, Helen Kelso and one brother, Dr. AJ Kleiser and other relatives. He received his education at the Waveland public Schools. The Waveland Academy and Ladoga Normal. He taught school in Brown Township for many years and in 1881 came to the Waveland Public Schools where he remained for 12 years. Was elected Trustee of Brown Twp in 1896. His entire life was spent in this locality and he was always interested in everything that was for the good of its citizens and had very deep sympathy for everyone in trouble. Although Mr. Kleiser was of an unassuming and retiring disposition he had the respect of the entire community and hin his death it has sustained irreparable loss. Honesty, generosity and intelligent ideals were some of his most outstanidn characteristics and prepared him for the sweeter, better things of life. He was truly a Christian gentleman. We will cherish his memory.

The following tribute to Mr. Kleiser is from a friend of the family in a note sympathy. “I am thinking of Mr. Kleiser – going back through the years and Thackeray’s Portrait of a Gentleman comes to mind and seems most applicaple. Honest in life just and irreproachable in his dealings; dear to his friends, honored by his country, and beloved at his fireside."

Waveland – Charles Albert Kleiser, age 80, who died yesterday in a Crawfordsville hospital, will be buried Sunday. He was born near Waveland and was educated in the Waveland Collegiate Academy. He taught school a number of years and served a term as trustee of Brown Township. The widow survives.
