The following obituary was read: Carrie Josephine Belton, the daughter of Mary E. and Joseph Belton was born in Waveland Indiana on the 2nd day of November 1864 and passed away April 10, 1933, aged 68 years 6 months and 8 days. She was married to Dr. AJ Kleiser on March 24, 1887. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Frank T. Burrin of Waveland, Ind and Mrs. Guy F. Spruhan of Salem, Va. She leaves in passing, one sister, Mrs. Belle Stentz of Waveland, Ind, one brother, Frank Belton of Ogalalla Neb; five grandchildren, Jeanne, Joseph and Frank Jr. Burrin, Jack and Guy Jr. Spruhan and the husband. In early childhood she joined the Presbyterian Church and was held fast to the Christian faith, working earnestly with the church organizations as long as her health permitted. She loved her home with all its environments with a sacred devotion. To her loved ones, these words of Edgar A. Guest seem to express the life she lived: "I'd like to think when life is done That I had filled a needed post. That here and there I'd paid my fare With more than idle talk and boast; That I had taken gifts divine; The Breath of life and manhood fine, And tried to use them now and then In service for my fellow man. I'd hate to think when life is through That I had lived my round of years, A useless kind, that leaves behind No record in this vale of tears; That I had wasted all my days By treading only selfish ways, And that this world would be the same If it had never known my name. I'd like to think that here and there When I am gone there shall remain A happier spot that might have not Existed had I toiled for gain; That someone's cheery voice and smile Shall prove that I have been worth while; That I had paid with something fine My Debt to God for life divine. Those from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kleiser and MIss Louise Kleiser of Terre Haute, Guy Spruhan and son, Jack of Salem, Va; Joe Burrin of Lafayette; Mr. and Mrs. Philo Burrin and daughter, Jane; Miss Jeanne Burrin, Irving Fullenwider, Mrs. Belle Stentz, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shaul and Mr. and Mrs. Fred C Herry of Indianapolis; Mrs. Foster Fudge, Mrs. Paul Couger and Mrs. Thomas Painter of Crawfordsville. Other friends from out of town who called to express their sympathy were Dr. and Mrs. TZ Ball; and Mrs. CH Johnson of Crawfordsville and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hancock of Montezuma. The library was closed during the funeral hour out of respect to the 18 years of conscientious service that Dr. Kleiser has rendered as Pres. of the Board of Trustees. - kbz
