Klaiber - Joseph

Joseph Klaiber, 61 years old, a member of the Indianapolis police department 23 years, died yesterday in his home, 1615 Leonard street, following an illness of two years.
Mr. Klaiber was born in Crawfordsville. He came to Indianapolis in 1895 and was appointed to the police department April 27, 1910. He served until March 27, 1918, when he resigned. He was reinstated January 2, 1922, and became a detective sergeant March 29 of that year. He was transferred to the uniformed side of the department nine months later, and in January, 1935, was promoted to lieutenant. He resigned from the department last April 13 because of ill health.
Mr. Klaiber was married to Miss Mayme Kaesbert of Indianapolis in 1900. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Loyal Order of Moose and Marion Camp No. 3558, Modern Woodman of America.
Survivors are the widow; two sons, Elmer V. Klaiber and Carl J. Klaiber; a sister, Mrs. Anna Neubauer, and two grandsons, all of Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be held at 3:15 o'clock Thursday morning in the Royster and Askin funeral home, and at 9 o'clock in the church. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery
