Col Samuel C. Kirkpatrick, a prominent citizen of Tippecanoe County, died of consumption at his residence near Culver’s Station, on Sunday afternoon, the 3d. Deceased was a native of Ohio, but came to Tippecanoe County when a boy. He was a successful farmer and had taken an active part in county politics, being elected County Treasurer by the Republicans in 1864. He was Lieutenant Colonel of the 72d Regiment, under Col. O. A. Miller. His funeral was conducted on the 5th by Wea Grange of Patrons of Husbandry, of which lodge he was a prominent member. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. John L. Smith, of this city.
