At 4 o’clock p.m., July 30, at 400 West Market Street, occurred the death of Cyrus Q. Kirkpatrick after a long illness. Mr. Kirkpatrick was born in Adams County, Ohio, in 1822, and came with his parents to Indiana in 1829. They settled in Montgomery County one mile west of the present site of New Richmond, where he grew to manhood among the hardships and rude pleasures of pioneer life. In 1855 he married Susan K. Sayers, of Wheeler’s Grove, Tippecanoe County, and settled in Jackson Township, two miles north of New Richmond, where he lived until 1894, since which time he has resided in Crawfordsville.

He was a man of great force of character, just and considerate in all his dealings and a leading spirit in progressive educational, religious and political affairs in his community. He enjoyed the esteem and confidence of a large circle of acquaintances and friends and rejoiced in the prosperity and happiness of his fellow men.

Three children and numerous other relatives and friends mourn his loss. The funeral occurred at the M. E. Church, New Richmond, Sunday at 11:00 o’clock. The procession left the residence, 400 West Market Street, at 8:30 a.m., after a thirty minute service there. Interment was in New Richmond Cemetery. -s
