Stephen Allen Kinkead, the son of John and Julia Kinkead was born March 7, 1854 and died April 16, 1926 at the age of 72 years 1 month and 9 days. He was one of a family of 10 children. He is survived by one brother, Robert Henry Kinkead of Lebanon Ind his wife Nancy Jane Kinkead and his five children: Mrs. Lora James of Advance; Mrs. Lillie French of Ladoga; Mrs. Bessie Scott of Indianapolis; Martin L Kinkead of New Ross and Henry F. Kinkead of Barnard. He was preceded in death by one son Ernest Earl Kinkead who died 18 years ago. He is also survived by 22 grand children and 3 great grandchildren, one grandson Herbert A. Kinkead whom he reared from childhood like a son of his own. He was first married to Milly Ann Hicks in the year 1877. To this union was born one child now Mrs. Lora Etta James. Milly Ann died July 21, 1880. After the death of his first wife, he was married again Feb 18, 1883 to Nancy Jane Zimmerman. To this union 5 children were born, four of whom survive him. He was born 8 miles west of Ladoga and spent practically his entire life in Montgomery County. In early life he united with the Baptist Church of Brown’s Valley and later united with the Methodist Church at Ladoga. He has been a true Christian, a loving father, a good neighbor and was much respected and loved by all who knew him. ~~~transcribed by kbz
