Worries over the catastrophies of the times and his sufferings from that nervous collapse caused Prof. King to become mentally deranged temporarily and he cut his throat with a razor just as the train was nearing Buffalo. Dr. Paul Barcus was accompanying Prof. King east and was in another coach at the time of the accident. Prof. King was born in 1862 near Youngstown, Ohio. In 1889 he was graduated from the Union Theological Seminary as a Presbyterian minister. From 1889 to 1890 he devoted to study of languages and arts in the University of Berlin, Germany. Since 1891 he has been professor of German language and literature in Wabash College. In the death of Prof. King, Crawfordsville loses one of the most illustrious and learned men. He was widely known and was admired not only as a professor but as a citizen. He leaves a wife and four daughters, Janette, Mary, Margaret and Ruth.
