New Richmond - July 22- Josiah A. King, a retired farmer, aged 83 years, died Sunday morning at eight at his home in this city. He death came as the result of heart trouble, following an illness of ten weeks. Mr. King's wife, Mrs. Sarah J. King died June 10, 1903. Five children, Ed King, Mrs. W.H. Hollan, Mrs. J.W. Hollan, Mrs. Sam L Bayless of New Richmond and Mrs. F.H. Wallace of Canton, Ill., survive as do nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. One sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Gerrard of Crawfordsville, survives. The deceased has been a member of the Methodist church for 71 years. Funeral services will be held from the Methodist church in New Richmond at half past ten Tuesday morning and will be in charge of Rev. George B Jones, pastor of that church. -thanks to Kim H

Josiah A. King, the oldest citizen of New Richmond, died at 8 o’clock Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Hollin, after an illness of many weeks from heart disease. Mr., King was 83 years old, and was a pioneer citizen of this town. Josiah Austin King was bora in Butler county, Ohio, September 2fi, 1829, and died in New Richmond, July 21, 1912; aged 83 years. He moved from Ohio to this county with his parents when ho was ten years of age, and has resided here ever since, being held in highest esteem by his friends and neighbors for his honesty and integrity. He united with what was known as the Asbury Chapel Methodist church at the early age of twelve years and has been a faithful Christian for seventy-one years. When he made New Richmond his home he had his membership transferred to the-local Methodist church and was a loyal member of that institution until his death. On August 16, 1856, he was united in marriage with Sarah J. Campbell, who preceded him lo the grave June 10, 1903. To this union were born seven children, two sons and five daughters, one daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Page, died February 9, 1890, and one son, L. W. King, died November 24,1909, leaving four daughters and one son to survive him. They are Ed. King, Mrs. W. H. Hollin, Mrs. J. W. Hollin, Mrs. Sam L. Bayliss, all of this place, and Mrs. S. H. Wallace, of Canton, Ill. One sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Gerard, of Crawfordsville, also survives. He leaves nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild to mourn his departure. Mr. King had been in poor health for the past six years, although not serious till his last sickness which lasted about tea weeks. He bore his last illness with the fortitude that betokens a brave man and the children have lost a kind and loving father and the community a good and upright citizen. The funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock from the Methodist church, Rev. Geo. B. Jones officiating. Interment was made in the New Richmond Cemetery. - kbz
