CATES- – Mrs. Verna M. Kiger, 76, of Cates, died at 6:19 a.m. CST today (Dec. 10, 1974) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill. She had been a patient 12 days. Born Oct. 15, 1898, in Wabash Township, Fountain County, she was the daughter of Isaac and Ida Hankins Allen. She was married Aug. 24, 1917, to Cloyd N. Kiger, who died March 7, 1971. She was a life resident of Fountain County. Survivors include six sons, Cloyd Jr. of Colburn, Carl of Cates, Clifford of Kingman Route 1, Clarence of Hillsboro Route 1, Cyril of Rensselaer and Cliston at home; two daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Davis of Kingman Route 2 and Mrs. Cherrell Tibbetts of Cates; a sister, Mrs. Ola Simmons of Veedersburg Route 3; 50 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Thursday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington, with the Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiating Burial will be in Coopers Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. – jlr
