Kiefer - Valentine

Valentine J. “Val” Kiefer, 80, of Rt. 6, Crawfordsville, died at 12:54 a.m. Sunday in Culver Union Hospital of natural causes. Mr. Kiefer had farmed and retired in 1968 as an area foreman for DeKalb Seed Co. He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Montgomery County Indiana Sheep Association. He was educated in Arnott (Wisconsin) schools. He was born Aug 12, 1915 at Elburn, Illinois to Peter and Minnie Stigmeyer Kiefer. He married Ethel Longhenry on August 26, 1944 at Platteville, Wis. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Michael of Beech Grove and Robert of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Judy) Fulford at Napa, Calif; a brother, Norbert of Rockford, Ill; a sister, Marian Vogel of Appleton, Wis and 7 grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Crawfordsville with Rev. Melvin Bennett and Michael McKinley officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Crawfordsville. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home of Crawfordsville.
