Mellott, Ind. - Mrs. Eva Luella Hicks Keyes, 58, a Mellott native, died suddenly in her Hammond home Tuesday evening (Dec. 28, 1971). Born July 3, 1913, in Mellott, she was a daughter of Ira and Myrtie Salsberry Hicks. She married Albert Keyes of Veedersburg Feb. 4, 1935, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Allison and Donnie, both of Hammond; two daughters, Kathleen and Patricia, both of Hammond; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. The body is being returned to the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown. Arrangements are incomplete. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.

Source: The obituary is from a collection by Fauniel Hershberger, saved the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Veedersburg - Mrs. Eva L. Keyes, 58, of Hammond, a former resident of Veedersburg, was pronounced dead on arrival Tuesday, Dec. 28 at St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond. Mrs. Keys had resided in Hammond since 1940 after moving from Veedersburg. Born June 3, 1913, in Mellott, she was the daughter of Ora and Myrtle Salisbury Hicks. She was married Feb. 3, 1933, to Alfred J. Keys of Veedersburg, who survives. Mrs. Keys attended the State Baptist Church in Hammond and had attended the Mellott High School. Survivors include two sons, Allison E. of Hammond and Donald W. of Munster; two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Andres of Hammond and Patricia Ann at home; and four grandchildren. Services were 2 pm Friday at Servies-Thomas Funeral Home. The Rev. Guy E. Tremaine officiated. Burial was in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. -- typed by Barbara B
