Samuel Kerr, who had been a resident of Fountain county for 70 years, died at the home at the home of his son, Charles, in Richland township on Tuesday evening. He had suffered from a cancerous growth for several years and this was the cause of death. Mr. Kerr was man of sterling integrity and well known and highly respected throughout the county. He was the oldest son of Josiah and Elizabeth Kerr and was born in Butler county, Ohio in 1827. He came to Richland township, with his parents in 1837, and had been a continuous resident there ever since. In 1856 he was married to Virginia Dagger, who died several years ago. Four children were born to them, three of whom survive: Charles, Guy, and Mrs. Carrie Millikin. Mr. Kerr had lived in Richland township since he was ten years of age and was a greater portion of the time in the homestead prepared by his father. He has a number of relatives who reside near Wingate and some of his kinsmen live here. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gilchrist on Thursday afternoon.
