Source: Waveland Independent newspaper, Waveland, Montgomery County, Indiana, Aug 17, 1928

The Dr. Kirshman referred to below was the son of Jay Kirshman who formerly lived here but now lives in Battle Creek, Michigan. The accident occurred at Wabasha, Minn on Saturday. Dr. Charles J. Kirshman of Muncie Ind was killed, Mrs. Kirshman was seriously injured and their three daughters received minor injuries today when a blowout of a front tire caused their automobile to collide with another machine 2 1/2 miles east of here. Dr. Kirshman and his family were visiting Rochester where he was a guest of the Mayor Brothers, famous physicians. Mrs. Kirshman and her three duaghters were taken to Rochester by physicians who came here from the Mayor clinic. Dr. Kirshman's body was held at a local undertaking establishment. The Kirshman automobile lurched suddenly into an auto coming from the opposite direction when the blowout occurred and the machine plunged into a ditch. One of the girls was thrown onto a wire fence. Dr. Kirshman was unconscious when extricated from the wreckage and died here without regaining consciousness. The family had left Rochester early in the morning. It was believe they were on their way to Southern Minnesota for a Sunday outing.  -- typed by kbz
