George T. King Jr., 53, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in his home at 800 E. Pike St. He was comptroller for Just-Rite Systems, Inc., having assumed that position last August. He was in charge of corporate functions such as accounting, auditing, payroll and taxes. Mr. King had first been employed by Golden Rule, Inc., in 1948 as an accountant and then had served as office manager for O. K. Galloway from 1951 until 1970. At that time he became a field auditor for the Indiana Department of Revenue and served in that capacity until joining Just-Rite. A long-time resident of this community, Mr. King was a member of the First Baptist Church here where he had served as a deacon. He had been a Boy Scout committeeman and institutional representative. He was treasurer of the Music Parents Association of Crawfordsville High School for four years and was a lifetime member of the Chrysler Corp. Honor Society of Accountants. Born Dec. 25, 1919, he was a son of the Rev. George T. and Beulah Adams King. He was a graduate of Columbus High School and attended Franklin College. He was married to Jayne Funkhouser Nov. 20, 1949. She survives. Other survivors include his parents of Muncie; two sons, Randall and Andrew at home; two brothers, Marvin R. of Montpelier, Ohio and the Rev. Raymond L. King of Lebanon, and a foster sister, Mrs. Sam (Pat) Haslam of Crawfordsville. Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Carter officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call in Powers Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Thursday. The family will be in the funeral home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 o’clock. The family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church building fund. – jlr
