Kenyon - Sopha Smith Beam

Mrs. Sopha Kenyon, 84, of 105 S. Walnut died at 10:35 p.m. Monday in Ben Hur Nursing Home, where she had been a patient since January 1973. She had been an operator with the Waynetown Telephone Company for 36 years. She had been a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church from childhood until moving to Crawfordsville in 1960 when she transferred her membership to First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Delta Alpha Sunday School class and Wayentown Order of Eastern Star. Born Jan 2, 1890 near Alvin, Ill, she was a daughter of John and Jane Leonard Smith. She was first married to Howard Beam. She later married Clayton Kenyon who died in 1957. Survivors include a son, Richard W. of Crawfordsville and two grandsons, Mike and David who are students at Purdue. She was preceded in death by a son Merlyn, four brothers and two sisters. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Servies-Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday. - transcribed by kbz
