Wingate - James (Jim) Kennedy, 72, a resident all his life of this community died at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville, where he had been a patient since a week ago last Saturday. He was a son of V.Y. and Mary H. Wainscott Kennedy and was born Sept 27, 1889 in Russell Ridge Community in Coal Creek Township. He was educated in the township schools and was married Jan 8, 1911 to Myrtle Doss, who survives. Mr. Kennedy was employed by Crabbs-Reynolds Feed Co for 32 years and continued six years in his position at the local elevator after its acquisition by Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Wingate Methodist Church and sec-treas for 30 years of the Greenlawn Cemetery Association. Surviving besides the wife are two daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Willman of Lafayette and Mrs. Joan Johnson of Wingate; two grandchildren, Pat & Mike Willman; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Chadwick of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Iva Hightower of Hillsboro; two brothers, Van Kennedy Rt 4 Crawfordsville and Gould Kennedy of Wingate and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a sister. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Thursday at Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. John Landon officiating. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. - kbz
