Kendricks - Charles "Kano"

Charles “Kano” Kendricks, 72, former resident of Crawfordsville, died early Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Betty Phillips, in Indianapolis. In addition to the daughter, he is survived by a son, Louis, and a brother, Joe, both of Crawfordsville. Other survivors include three grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and nieces and nephews. Born on May 8, 1896, at Somerset, Ky., he was the son of George and Sophia Hargis Kendricks. His wife, the former Nellie Fox, died several years ago. The couple were wed in Crawfordsville. Services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Shirley Brothers Funeral Home on West Michigan Street in Indianapolis. Friends may call at the funeral home. Graveside rites are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Charlotte HoTopp in charge. – jlr
