Wingate - Wililam "Newt" Kelsey, 88, a farmer and a meat cutter at Miller Curing Plant near Wesley until his retirement in 1969, died at 1:50 a.m. Friday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He had been ill since March 10. Mr. Kelsey was a member of Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ and attended New Market schools. He was born June 21, 1882, in New Market to Samuel A. and Augie Kelsey. On March 12, 1905, he married Clara B. Burk in her home. She died in 1968. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marguerite Byers of Wingate; a grandson and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mammie Kelsey and Eva Kelsey and a brother, Nathan. Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Servies-Thomas Funeral Home, Waynetown, Rev. John R. Servies and Rev. Robert Karns will officiate. Burial in Indian Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. - transcribed by kbz
