Covington -- Martin L. Keller, 77, a life resident of Wabash Twp, Fountain County died at 5:55 p. m Saturday in Veterans Administration Hospital at Danville, Ill where he had been a patient since last Nov 2. A son of Robert S. and Emma Lighty Keller, he was born in Wabash Twp Aug 16, 1888. He was never married. Survivors include a brother, R. Carl Keller of Rt 3, Covington, and a niece and nephew. Another brother, E. V. Keller preceded him in death. Mr. Keller was in the US Army for a year during WWII, serving overseas six months. He was a member of Fulton-Banta Post 291 of the American Legion and Fountain County Guard Post 2395 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars both of Covington. He served many years as caretaker of Coal Creek (Snoddy's) Cemetery. Funeral seravices are set for 2 p. m. Tuesday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here, with Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiating. Burial will be in Coal Creek Cemetery with members of the Legion & VFW conducting military rites. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday afternoon and evening.

Source: The obituary is from a collection by Fauniel Hershberger, saved the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Covington, Ind. - Martin L. Keller, 77, died yesterday (June 18, 1966) in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville. He had been a patient since Nov. 2, 1965. He was born Aug. 16, 1888, in Wabash Township, Fountain County, Inc., the son of Robert and Emma Lighty Keller. Survivors include a brother, Carl of Covington, a niece and nephew. He was preceded by his parents and brother. Mr. Keller was a life resident of Wabash Township and a caretaker at Snoddy's Cemetery for many years. He was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of Fulton-Banta Post 291, American Legion, and the Fountain County Old Guard Post 2395, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Services will be Tuesday at 2 pm at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Alfred Dobbs will officiate. Burial will be in Coal Creek Cemetery.
