Mrs. Julia U. Kay, 83, of Hillsboro, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday (March 11, 1975) at the Ben Hur Nursing Home in Crawfordsville. She had been ill for about four years. Born Aug. 7, 1891, in Richland Township, she was the daughter of Leroy and Margaret Gerner Smith. On April 3, 1912, she was married to Everett Kay, who died in 1962. Mrs. Kay had attended the Newtown schools and was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church at Newtown. She also attended the Hillsboro Christian Church where she was a member of the CWF. She was a member of the Hillsboro American Legion Post Auxiliary and the Gold Star Mothers. She was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a son, who was killed during World War II. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Doris Crane of Indianapolis and Miss Maurine Kay of Monrovia, Calif., a son Thomas L. Kay of Arcadia, Calif., two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Burnside of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Effie Miles of Bainbridge; five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Services will be Friday at the Crumley-Williams funeral Home, with the Rev. Dorman Winger officiating. Burial wil be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. - kbz
