Covington, Ind. - Miss Hester L. Kay, 62, a retired schoolteacher and former resident of Covington, died at 1:15 am today (June 2, 1967) in the Ben Hur Nursing Home at Crawfordsville where she had been a patient since Feb. 24, 1966. Born Dec. 10, 1904, in Fitzgerald, Ga., she was a daughter of Frederick and Cecila Wilson Kay. Surviving is a nephew, Charles F. Kay of Williamsport. She was preceded in death by two brothers. Miss Kay was a member of the Covington Methodist Church, the Richland Chapter Order of Eastern Star of Newtown, the Psi Iota Xi Fraternity and an honorary educational sorority at Butler University. She was a 1923 graduate of Newtown High School and received bachelor of science and master's degrees at Butler University in Indianapolis. She taught primary grade school for 39 years at Newtown, Covington, Franklin and Lebanon, retiring in 1965 because of ill health. Services will be at 2 pm Sunday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home with the Rev. P. J. Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the Baptist Cemetery at Newtown. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 3 pm Saturday. -- typed by Barbara B
