LAFAYETTE – Frank B. Jones, 81, of 1844 N. 15th St., a retired electrical supervisor for Monon Railroad, died at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Hospital. He had been ill since last March and hospitalized since Nov. 12. Mr. Jones served as the Monon supervisor from 1917 to 1959 when he retired. He also did electrical work for local contractors and Purdue University. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Interstate Association of Retired Railway Employes “Old Rails,” Masonic Lodge F&AM 123 and First Christian Church. He was a graduate of General Electric Locomotive School and completed many courses in electrical engineering. He moved to Lafayette in 1917. Born March 16, 1894, at Advance, he was a son of James B. and Candece Canada Jones. He was first married to Mary Ann Hamilton on Sept. 7, 1916. She died Nov. 29, 1970. He then married Ruth Parker Edwards on Dec. 18, 1971. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Michael S. (Annabelle) Kachorsky of Manville, N.J.; three stepchildren, Joseph M. Edwards of Thailand, Mrs. Donna Broad of Jolliet, Ill., and Mrs. Harold (Louise) Lowe of Delphi; a brother, William Jones of Crawfordsville; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Wonnell and Mrs. Brownie Lewellyn of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Garnet McAllister of Tuscon, Ariz.; three grandchildren, six step-grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Hippensteel Funeral Home at Lafayette with Dr. Joseph Wicks officiating. Internment will be in Oak Hill Mauseleum at Crawfordsville. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-9 p.m. Thursday. The “Old Rails” will conduct services at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The family requests memorials be sent to the Cancer Society. – jlr
