Jones - Elizabeth Thomas

Mrs. Elizabeth Jones, the relict of Abner Jones, died last Tuesday at her home five miles north of the city, after an illness of over four months. The funeral took place at the residence Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock, the service being conducted by the Rev. John Stafford, of Romney. The interment was at Oak Hill. Mrs. Jones was born at College Corner, Ohio, about eighty-two years ago, and came to this county when a young girl with her mother. Her maiden name was Thomas and she was married to the late Abner Jones forty-four years ago. Three children survive her, they being Abner Jones, Mrs. James Quillen and Mrs. William Wilson, all of this county. Mrs. Jones became a member of the Methodist church when a mere child and lived a consistent an active Christian all her life. She was a kind parent and a lady who was highly esteemed as a neighbor and as a friend. Her life was a long one and a very useful one, and death came to her as the close of a beautiful day. - transcribed by Kim H
