Miss Mary E. Jolley, 91, a retired nurse who has helped thousands of Crawfordsville area mothers rear their babies, died at 9:15 a.m. Sunday at Culver Hospital after an extended illness. Miss Jolley was a graduate of the Culver Union Hospital Nurses Training Program in 1909. She retired from active duty as a registered nurse in 1928, but continued to give advice and practical help to novice mothers for years, often via the telephone. She was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church. She was born in Almena, Kan., July 21, 1879, a daughter of Francis and Rhoda VanCleave Jolley. Surviving are nieces and nephews, including Carl E. Jolley of Crawfordsville. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. L.K. Wickett officiating. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Well Baby Clinic of Christian Nursing Service.
