Johnson - Nancy Owen Shuey

Mrs. Nancy S. Johnson d. at the home of her son, Rev. TJ Shuey at Valparaiso last Sun. after a long illness of Agrippa. Nancy Owen was b. in NC May 5, 1821. At an early age she came with her parents to Putnam Co. In 1850 she was married to Daniel SHUEY who died in 1868. To them were born 4 sons one of whom gave up his life in the great war between the States. The remaining sons are Rev. Thomas J of Valparaiso, James of Putnam Co. and Hon HO of Seattle. Early in life she united with the Christian Church. She was a good mother, a true friend and a faithful Christian. During her life in Waveland all who knew the gracious old lady became warmly attached to her. Funeral services were held at the family residence on Tues, conducted by Rev. John l. Brandt.

Mrs. Nancy Shuey-Johnson is very sick at the home of Rev. T.J. Shuey at Valparaiso and on account of her advanced age her recovery is very doubtful. She is 78 - typed by kbz
