Mrs. Mabel Emily Johnson, 86, resident of Crawfordsville for 42 years, died at 8:35 p.m. Monday at Culver Hospital where she had been a patient for a few hours. Mrs. Johnson was born Aug. 28, 1876, near Youngstown, Ohio. Her parents were John and Veanna Stewart McFarland. She was the widow of G. Dexter Johnson, former manager of Graham’s Department Store. She resided at 809 E. Jefferson St. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church. Prior to her marriage, she was superintendent of nurses at Grace Hospital at Conneaut, Ohio. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Harriet Moistner, Indianapolis; a son, G. Dexter Johnson, Denver, Colo., and six grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Rev. John DeKruyter will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
