Joseph D. Johnson died at the home of his father, Samuel Johnson on east Franklin street, last Saturday at the age of 29 years. The deceased has been a long but patient sufferer of consumption and death came to him as a relief. Joe was a popular and well known young man and his many friends were pained to learn of his death. The funeral occurred from the family residence Monday afternoon and interment took place at the Lutheran Cemetery near North Union where his mother lies buried. – kbz

Joseph S. Johnson, aged 29 years, died this morning at the home of his father, Samuel Johnson, on East Franklin Street. His disease was consumption and he had been confined to his bed for seven months, so that death came to him rather as a rest and a relief. Mr. Johnson has many friends who will be pained to learn of his death. The funeral will be at the residence at 1:30 on Monday, and the interment will take place at the Lutheran Cemetery near North Union where his mother lies buried.
