Jemima Johnson, wife of Jos. Johnson, living five miles east of the city, died on the 16th inst. with paralysis. She was born in Randolph County, this State, in 1826, and was married in 1858. Their home was blessed with three children, one son, W. E. Johnson, of Elk City, Kansas, and two daughters of Gravelly Run vicinity. She has been almost helpless with this disease for several years, but has borne her affliction with great fortitude, often expressing herself perfectly willing to go when the proper time came. She was a worthy member of Friend’s Church and a devoted Christian. The angelic hand hath plucked one more appreciated pillar from a church that is needy. She was a friend to the friendless, a neighbor to all. She will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends, by the husband as a sincere companion, by the children as a kind and loving mother. While our loss is her gain, there is consolation in the thought that He doeth all things well. He giveth and he taketh away, blessed by the name of the Lord.
