Waveland – Franklin T. Johnson, 82 of Rt 1, Waveland died at approximately 7:30 Wednesday morning. He had served as elder and trustee at Waveland Christian Church. He was a past treasurer of Waveland Masonic Lodge. He had served on the board of directors of Maple Ridge Cemetery. He attended Waveland Grade School and was a 1924 graduate of Crawfordsville HS. He attended Purdue University School of Engineering. He taught at Crawfordsville HS for a short time. He served as cashier of the State Bank of Waveland 1943-53, serving as president of the bank from 1953 until it merged with Elston Bank in 1960. Until his retirement in 1969 he was a VP and manager of Elston’s Waveland Branch. He was a second Lt. in the Army Reserve 1928-30. Mr. Johnson was born at Crawfordsville on July 5, 1906 to Theodore N. and Bettie E. Titus Johnson. He was married at Crawfordsville on July 14, 192o to Helen L. Hinton. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Jerry T. and John Roger, both of Waveland; a daughter, Mary June Yates of Linden; a brother, Richard of Oxford, Ind; a sister, Mrs. Gordon (Juliane) Robison of Michigan City, Ind; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Oak Hill Mausoleum with Rev. Dorman Winger officiating. Entombment will be in Oak Hill. There is no calling. Arrangements are being handled by Machledt & Servies Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the form of contributions to the Waveland Christian Church’s Memorial Bible Fund.
