Lafayette, Feb 17 – Garth Job, a popular train dispatcher on the Monon railroad succumbed to an attack of influenza and pneumonia Saturday afternoon at 3:30 at his home, 1807 North 15th Street. Mr. Job was born in Roachdale June 7, 1889 and learned telegraphy in the Monon office at that point. In 1906 he was married to Vera Kepler of Crawfordsville and they came to Lafayette to reside in 1910. Mr. Job united with the First Christian Church in 1914 and was active in church affairs being a generous contributor to the institution. He belonged to the Masonic fraternity, holding membership in Tippecanoe Lodge No 492 and Hope Chapter NO 5, Order of Eastern Star. He was to have taken his Royal Arch degree in Masonry last Thursday evening but his health would not permit. Besides his wife, Mr. Job is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lou Job, and two sisters, Mrs. R. Bean and Mrs. George Luppenlotz of Roachdale and a brother, Elbert Job of Newman, Ill. The funeral was conducted form the First Christian Church Monday afternoon at 2:15 o’clock, Rev. JN Jessup officiating. The members of the Masonic fraternity also conducted services. At 3:30 o’clock the funeral party left for Roachdale where final services will be conducted from the home of his mother Tuesday afternoon at 2:30. Burial will be in the Roachdale cemetery. - kbz
