Clarence Oston Jean, 24 of Englewood Drive, Crawfordsville, was killed in a two-car collision about 9 o’clock Saturday night at the junction of US 136 and Ind 341, a quarter of a mile east of Hillsboro. Mrs. Lou Songer of Veedersburg a passenger in the car struck by the Jean auto was also removed by ambulance to Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville and her condition was reported good Monday night. Jean was removed to the hospital in the Crumley Ambulance of Hillsboro and died shortly after his arrival of a skull fracture. State police reported Jean was headed south of 341, failed to stop at the junction and struck a car being drive west on 136 by Mrs. Daisy Ebert of Veedersburg. The Jean car overturned and rolled 138’ south from the point of impact, along a gravel road.  Jean was thrown from the car. A companion, Chester Bass, 23, Hillsboro remained in the auto and escaped injury.  The Ebert car was spun around and Mrs. Songer was thrown out. It was reported that X-rays showed she suffered no fractures. Mrs. Ebert was not injured.  Jean, an employee of RR Donnelley & Sons, Crawfordsville was a native of Alabama born Dec 5, 1932 to Clarence and Anna Lou Manasco Jean. The family moved to the Crawfordsville area about three years ago.  He was married May 25, 1956 to Mary Ann Kochert at Covington.  He served four years with the US Air Force and was a Korean veteran.  He was a member of the Veedersburg post of the American Legion.  Surviving are the widow; three month old son, William Allen Jean, three brothers, Edward of Attica; James and Jerry of Veedersburg and the grandparents, Riley and Roxie Ann Jean and James and Rosie May Manasco of Alabama.  Funeral services were held from the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. William Clark of the Waynetown Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Crawfordsville. – kbz
