John W. Jarvis died at Kankakee, Illinois and was brought here and interred at Maple Ridge, on Friday, after funeral services at the home of his sister, Misses Mary and Elizabeth Jarvis on W. Main St. The funeral was conducted by Rev IN Grisso. Mr. J. was the son of John Jarvis and was born in Parke County south of this place. He attended the Waveland Academy and at the age of 19 entered the ministry of the Christian Church, preaching for a number of years. Afterwards he conducted a newspaper for a time. The last few years of his life he was a teacher in the business college at Kankakee. He leaves one son, Othel and one daughter Zoë. An older daughter, May died a few months ago in New Orleans. - kbz
